Ensure a sustainable future for the planet

We offer a full dismantling process for complex recycling projects. This includes disassembly and collection of all parts including screws, nuts and bolts. The plastic components are then reground before reintroduction into the supply chain. If required, the regrind can be compounded into pellet form.

The plastic regrinding process which includes the grinding and reducing of the plastic waste materials, such the off cuts and scrap into smaller pieces and pellets

Regrinds process

step 1 – sort & separate

The first step within the process within plastic regrinding, is to sort and separate the relevant plastics into their own piles, and then cleaning it. This process helps to and involves removing any other waste materials from the plastic, such as metal, paper and other materials, including sorting plastic by colour and type.

step 2 – shred

After the sort plastic is sorted and cleaned, it will then be put into the shredder, which will cut the plastic down into smaller pieces, ready to be recycled and re used, the plastic waste will usually be cut into 1-6mm in length, depending on the size.

step 3 – Wash again

It is to make sure all contaminants are removed, and the clean plastic is dried, using a centrifuge or hot air system, which will remove any of the remaining moisture.

step 4 – Melt

By using a heat exchanger or extruder, it will melt the plastic into a liquidish form, to be moulded into a uniform shape, and then cooled using a water bath or air-cooling system, before being cut down into small pellets.

step 5 – packaging and storing of regrinds

The last part of the process involving plastic regrinding being the packaging and storing of regrinds, which are then to be stored in boxes or bags in a dry cool place until they are needed. They are available for use straight away or can be stored until they are needed.

      Polymer compounds

Polymer compounds are made from synthetic polymers, which form long chains of repeating units, which are used in various applications, such as the production of plastics, rubber made products, coatings and adhesives. Polymer plastics are capable of becoming tailor made, to a specific requirement, through the help of extra ingredients such as, colorants, stabilisers and fillers, and these polymers can be adjusted, to different applications, making them valuable to many businesses due to their versatility. Recycled plastic can be converted to a material created from synthetic polymers, which are used in multiple applications.

By using recycled plastic to create polymer compounds, you are:

      • Reduces
        waste

Recycling plastic helps to reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfills, which is beneficial for the environment.

      • Conserves
        resources

Recycling plastic conserves natural resources since recycled plastic is less resource-intensive compared to producing polymer compounds from petroleum-based feedstocks.

      • Reduces greenhouse
        gas emissions

Using recycled plastic in the production of polymer compounds can help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, which contributes to reducing the impact of climate change.

      • sustainable
        production

The use of recycled plastic in the production of polymer compounds supports sustainable production practices and helps to minimise the environmental impact of polymer production.

      • Cost
        effective

Recycling plastic is a cost-effective alternative to producing polymer compounds from virgin materials, which can reduce the overall cost of production.

      In Conclusion

polymer compounds made from recycled plastic are good for us because they offer environmental, economic, and sustainable benefits. By using recycled plastic, we can reduce waste, conserve natural resources, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and support sustainable production practices.

If you or your business, has plastic waste which needs to be removed, please contact GTS, so we can get your plastic responsibly and properly recycled, so you can be sure that you are playing your part in the helping of our planet.
